Week 1

Week 1- Music Focus

I decided that it was time to change things up and focus on music. This means that my job ended and will no longer go to the normal 9-5. Scary! I have never done anything like this before, but honestly, it was needed. I am in Berlin to make music and was just frustrated that I have not been making the progress that I desire. So, money will be tight until I can find another job but I am willing to take the risk!

So what did I do my first week of my “new” job? I organized what needed to be done :) I wanted to make a video about this, but honestly it was really boring! So I will give the highlights here.

I am working in a Google Sheet to organize all of my music. I have all of the lyrics and some production notes. Things are highlighted for different reasons- maybe I am not sure about the song… stuff like that. I won’t go into too much detail because, well, it can be boring!

Other than organizing, I worked on finding reference tracks that help me explain my vision to my producer. I will have 12 songs on the record, and finding reference songs can take up a bit of time. But it is a fun way to find new music.

some of the references I found

I also worked on deciding which song I wanted to bring to the studio and present to my producer. Even though I really trust my producer, I still get nervous when I present new ideas. (just being honest) So I started working on a demo and had fun with that.

The first week was a bit short because I had some personal stuff happening. Did music everyday but it looked different. Thursday I was at the funeral of a friend and even sang at the grave. It was emotional and sad, but she was a fan of my music and I wanted to sing to her one last time. The next day was a holiday and I just took it easy and needed to rest after the funeral.

Like I said, I made short videos, but they ended up being a bit dry! However if you read this and really want to see them….maybe I will make an exception for you.

I am looking forward to another productive week where music is my focus!!!

Excited for this journey.

If you feel like helping me make my first full length album, you can do so by “buying” me a virtual coffee! It goes straight to my music fund. I appreciate every gift and use it wisely toward costs of the album that are not covered by the grant I received. (see my last post about this)

Much love!
