week 2

Back in the studio baby!

Week two was filled with demo making and time in the studio. On Monday I was assisting for a strings session. I helped out a tiny but with the set up, bough snacks, taped scores together and picked up things that were needed. It was a great experience because we were in an old studio in the Funkhaus! It was such a massive studio- I have never been in anything like it.

The session was for my producer and other artists, but I am glad I got to be involved, and I hope to be part of future sessions. It was fun and a great learning experience. My session was scheduled on Friday and I have been really looking forward to it!

This week I have been working on a new demo, as well as getting notes together on the song I wanted to work on first, Rain. We did a live session of this song back in October for a video shoot, and now it is time to get it ready for the album. At this point in time I am thinking about having 2 versions, one live and one studio. Nothing is confirmed at the moment, but I can tell you that the first song I will release as a single for the album will be “Rain!” See the preview for it HERE.

For those of you who took part in my crowdfunding campaign for the album have already heard it! If you want a sneak peak (including the music video) just shoot me and email and we can work something out! (info at kelseybrae dot com)

Back to the studio… working on Rain was good, but it was mostly fixing annoying things like, “where is that pop coming from” and “why is this audio file missing from the session…” Brian was a champ and stuck it out- thank you Brian! I know the first half of my studio day was frustrating. But then when we starting working on my new song, “Delay,” we finally started to have fun! We recorded a cymbal part, did some vocals- even Brian sang a bit. The demo that I showed Brian was actually fairly complete. We spent about 3 hours on it and did not change much, but still had a lot of fun.

I am not ready to show you a preview yet, but if you want a little behind the scenes look at this song check out this Instagram Reel I made.

Hopefully next studio session we can wrap up Delay and even start on a new one…

See you next time,
KelseyBrae
